About Surface to Air Jewelry:

(from http://www.surfacetoairaccessories.com/)

Developed in 1996 as a side project while working as a sculpture studio monitor at New York University, the Surface to Air jewelry collection is one of the earliest endeavors from the international fashion and art company. The original two and three finger rings, hand cut and finished from stock 1/4″ aluminum, became the predecessors for the vocabulary that defines the subversive and narrative aesthetic prominent in the collections. Many of the original designs can be seen as three dimensional developments of two dimensional graphic concepts.

The multi finger rings are fashioned from aluminum or silver, and are available unfinished or polished. They are sized large and small, to accommodate the average man and woman’s hands (the average men’s size would be a 10, and women’s would be a 7). The pendants come in various combinations of stainless steel, silver, bronze, and brass, with various coatings and treatments. All pendants come on various gauges of silver Italian link chain, normally 30 inches in length. Where possible, the pieces are stamped with the S2A hallmark to ensure authenticity.

Surface to Air presents the jewelry collection along with the men’s and woman’s wear collection four times annually. Additionally, exclusive collaborations and experimental developments become available as ready. The jewelry collection is designed by Surface to Air member Daniel Jackson in New York City, and manufactured in the United States.

Check out Surface to Air jewelry trunk show next Tuesday Oct 20, 6-9pm at the store!

Brand Profile: Comune

comunelead
BRAND: COMUNE

SINCE: 2008

HOME BASE: Costa Mesa, California

FOUNDED BY: Frank Delgadillo

WHY WE COSIGN: The lifestyle-apparel and accessories brand Comune is inspired by active sports, fashion, art, and music, and designs affordable clothes for comfort and functionality. Founder Frank Delgadillo started the clothing label Ambiguous in his college dorm room in 1996, and is perfecting his craft with this new label. “We got together on the premise that we’d inspire each other by just doing the work that we do as individuals, in our own mediums. It is a truly authentic group of creative minds, artistic hands, and creative athletes, so something good was bound to come out of it,” says Delgadillo. Decide for yourself by checking the collection after the jump.

Comune’s art studio and gallery is made up of recycled steel shipping containers, a solid eco-look look inspired by the notorious Drop City hippie commune from the ’60s. The brand will hold its Fall 2009 preview there on June 27, featuring artists Corey Smith, Hunter Longe, Jason Lee Parry, Shelby Menzel, Jimmy Fontaine and Gareth Stehr.
