Spring 09 KZO – collabo with Unholy Matrimony

“KZO is the cause and effect of not being able to find the types of clothes we want to wear with high attention to detail, fabrics, fabrications, fit, global quality, and point of view.”

Joe Kazuo Knoernschild designs in L.A., but his KZO collection’s minimalist vibe and understated style has more in common with the other side of the Pacific. KZO feels more like Tokyo’s street scene than So Cal surf. Joe says KZO is lifestyle inspired with a target audience of “guys ages 18 to 35 with a taste for global style and cult fashion.” If you’re looking for casual with some sophistication, street smarts, and a few techno-inspired, personal details—like hidden iPod pockets— you’ll dig KZO.

K.Z.O – by Joel Knoernschild, I wanna meet this guy…

I have not met Joel Knoernschild. When we got our first shipment of his debut collection Kazuo last week, he made my list of “Who I want to meet.” I loved everything from this line that I wish I was a boy. But since that is not an option, I need to convince my man to be dressed in this stuff. Joel is a half caucasian, half Japanese, and this heritage fueled his unique interpretation of crossing over Japanese street wear with California cool. The line is named after his grandpa Kazuo, who was a Japanese-American during the hard era of WWII. He quoted, “…that’s why a lot of this brand draws from remixing military themes, as well as the “Z” in K.Z.O (Kazuo) coming from the ‘Z’ in the Japanese internment camp ‘Manzanar.’” (- from Evil Monito site, http://evilmonito.com/2008/07/20/joel-knoernschild/).

Joel actually came to our store, and thought that we’ll represent KZO really well.
